Hi, i got arrested yesterday for retail fraud in the 3rd degree at macys in michigan i am really scared i have a clean record it's my first offense no one saw me taking it , and am not on camera but they where watching me and noticed 2 items missing from the fitting room after i left so they asked if i did take them so i confessed they are worth $80. please help me understand whats the worst that could happen to me, or should i get a lawyer? and is this arrest going to be permanat on my record? please help. thanks

i also wanted to add that i was still in the middle of the store i wasn't planning to leave yet when they came up to me and grabbed me to the back room also they took my purse from me(thats where i had hidden the merchandise) also took my phone and my keys and went through all my belongings without my permission and kept my things with them till the police came? is this normal procedure? please help!

they also took my picture and said that i can't go to any macys in the country it'll be transpassing but they didn't specify the time that am not allowed to go there and they didn't make me sign any type of paperwork that states i'll be transpassing. what does that mean?

Yeah. I was caught at Macy's in August. I had just turned 15.

I'm not allowed back into any Macys in the country for a year.

they took back the stuff i stole

they sent me a civil charge (what i took +200)
itll be no less than 100 no more than 200 charge.

I haven't gotten a court date, but when i do, ill let you know.
Can we keep in contact here?
I'm really scared and feel horrible.

I just hope I can do diversion and DONT get probation. oh lord, that would be so horrible.

They didn't take my picture or anything, but they did make me sign a contract saying i wasnt allowed in any for a year.

the police were not contacted for me. i live in seattle washington. but i do have a misdemeanor on my record. I took about 170 dollars. =/

here is my thread page: http://www.expertlaw.com/forums/showthread.php?t=15062

    Ana marie,
Well if they didn't contact the cops right then and there then u have no court or anything else to worry about. Just pay them the civil damages so they won't take any furthur action against u and don't go back to macys for a year like they said cos if u do u'll be transpassing then they'll call the cops on u.

ama24, Unfortunetely for me, I am going to court.

It doesn't matter if the police were contacted or not. Because I am juvinile and because I committed a crime, I'm being sent to court anyways. Although if I don't get the court date within a year, and I make sure I'm not on court lists I'm off the hook.

I just pray that's what happens though I doubt it.
Washington can take up to 5,000 juvinile cases a year.
