Default Re: Landlord Didn't Fix Front Door or Lock and the Home Was Burgled

I am not seeing how a taped crack in a window would have a material impact on why a particular house was targeted for a burglary, or make a material difference to how difficult it would be to smash out the window. In many neighborhoods a taped crack in a window would likely be seen as a sign that "The guy who lives there doesn't even have enough money to fix his window; let's hit the next house."

Sorry, been busy. No, they didn't bust the door itself, but the window where it was put in, the frame next to the crack was busted in and broken. The landlord said she would be fixing it, and thats when she just asked the maintenence to put duct tape on it. The house was thrashed, and the money was stolen. I don't know why, but the officer who took the case had mentioned that there had been ALOT of burglary's lately in my area of town. The lease only lasts for the month and until I pay again, like re-upping it I guess. It never was a problem until I was broke into the first time, and I asked her again, like reminded her, "Hey, could we do something about this door because its been broke again." She said yeah it wasn't a problem just some time later when she had some time. I figured she would get to it, but then she stopped answering my calls. From wht it looks like, they just had to push the plexi-glass in towards the house a little bit more and they could just unlock it. The only reason I'm pushing it is because the officer advised me to take her to court and get reimubrsed, I just wanted some opinions before so I didn't look like a fool before the courts.
