My question involves civil rights in the State of: Kansas: I've recently been broken into, and lost $600.00 that my husband and I worked our butts off to save.
I left the state for a few days and came back to find my door busted in, the money gone, and the blu-ray DvD stolen. I don't have much to my house, but it was thrashed with all my paperwork.
I've asked the landlord to repeatedly fix the door, because previously to me moving in, the PLEXI-Glass had been broken and duct-taped. Well, I'd asked the maintenence guy who the landlord asks to do repairs and such, to please replace the door or make it safer. I'd asked more than once, but the problem with that is I didn't get it in writing to the landlord or the maintenence guy.
I don't have much and my husband and I are FURIOUS! We called the cops and they took the case into place. They went through and when he saw the door, he specifically told me that it wasn't safe in the first place and to take it to civil rights court.
What can I do? I have a 2 month old on my side, and $50.00 to my name for diapers and formula, thankfully some of my friends are letting us stay with them until we can move my stuff out.
Thanks for any information.
