Question Entering the U.S. After a Short Overstay - First Attempt Admission Was Withdrawn

    Hi,

I flew to the US in July 2012 from Australia, on a B1/B2 Tourist Visa which I had obtained in 2010, and was valid for five years.
Having used this Visa previously to travel to the US in March 2011, for a stay of six months, in which I overstayed by 23 days.
So in July 2012, my second visit on the same valid Visa, I was interviewed by CBP in which they informed me that my Visa had been cancelled due to my last visit's Overstay, I completely understood and agreed to Withdraw my Application for Admission, and was informed to obtain a new Visa upon returning home.
So home I went to Aus, but I did not try to obtain a new Visa, as my reason for travelling at that time was for a friends 30th Birthday, and not to mention the whole experience was upsetting, having been finger printed, body searched, and having been held in a holding area while waiting to be deported etc. As well as loosing money on my expensive return plane ticket.
But now I am left wondering where I stand with re entering the US, if I choose to one day return for another vacation, and to visit friends.

Would I need to apply for a B1/B2 Visa again? even if I was only going for one month? Will I have trouble getting the Visa now after being sent home?

Some info on this will be most appreciated thank you.

You will possibly be denied or required to show significant reason to return to Australia, such as property and job, as it appears your intent is to move to the US.

Your overstay by even one day invalidated your visa. You need to reapply. You may or may not be granted a new visa but the overstay will more likely be the reason than your withdrawal of admission.
