Again, I'm not going in to detail, but that's false. I know it to be false because I work in the medical field. Again, law enforcement officers aren't licensed physicians. At best, first responders. So no, it isn't that simple. Thanks for your input.
Here is what happens in real life ... the police will NOT give you your medication. They MIGHT bring it with them to the jail and hand it over to the jail staff. Unless your medical need is an injury or life threatening, they are not going to haul you to a hospital because of a possible mental health issue.

Once at the jail, you will be subect to the policies and procedures of the facility. They also will NOT allow you to consume medication you bring in until (and unless) it is approved by their own medical staff. Generally, if you will be staying more than a day, they will write a new prescription if it is necessary. A public intoxication beef that will likely result in incarceration for far less than 24 hours will NOT result in a doctor's visit or prescription.

But, if you have the money, you can certainly pay an attorney to write letters, make a claim and try to sue the police or the jail for failing to feed you your psych meds in a timely manner. Good luck with that.

By admitting that your intoxication has "an affect on the potential dosage" of the medication, you have confirmed that it would be dangerous and irresponsible for the police to give you your standard dose while you're drunk. So there you go. You want to play "hide the ball" with the relevant facts? Then you need to go consult a lawyer because the facts matter.

yep and that is why they cannot administer meds. The approval for the meds has to come from a med professional and if you are in only overnight, they are not going to call out a doc for that, especially since you being drunk is not going to allow them to adequately determine your psychological condition.

    Here's a nonjudgmental reply.
My experience has been that they like the "unimpeachable types." In other words, if a lawyer takes your case, and it goes to trial, the first thing the other side will focus on is the alcohol use, which could have caused the psych issues (will probably need an expert to testify, too, which would be expensive). If you hadn't been drinking, and the cops took you to jail, maybe you would have a better argument. I can't say for sure that a lawyer would have invited you in for a consultation, but the people here probably would be less judgmental, I think. I am not a lawyer, but I see a lot of people being blown off by lawyers and others because they have substance issues.
