My question involves paternity law for the State of: texas

She lied early in pregnancy. I left with belief there was no child, or if there was, she wasn't having it or most certainly it wasn't mine according to her. Time passes, I get engaged...continue with my life thinking this wasn't a possibility (really, without it in mind at all). She contacts me 7 months after child was born. Someone else is on the birth certificate. She claims, through various texts and e-mails, she knew this all along. She then presents me with the option of signing over rights. I think it over. I decide it's the best option, as I have created a life otherwise. She gets angry at this option, as she and other guy are no longer together. She now wants support and is being very abrasive about it. ASSUMING the child is mine, i am looking for a little peace of mind. She is apparantly going to rehab/jail for 9 months and has signed over her rights temporarily to her mother. She claims she is filing support from other guy to disprove he is the father. I am scared. I was trapped. I feel trapped again. I'm awaiting a call from a lawyer, but am looking for peace of mind. Am i going to get taken to the bank here?
