My Child's Father is Going Back on Agreement

My question involves a child custody case from the State of: California
My sons father agreed to let him go with me on a trip to Colorado over his weekend Friday, Saturday, Sunday. I already paid for the plane ticket since he agreed, but he got mad about a holiday visitation disagreement and now is saying I can't take him because it is his weekend. This was part of my sons Xmas present because he so badly wants to fly on an airplane, and he is going to be so heartbroken. Is there anything I can do? I have the text message with him agreeing for me to take him on the trip.

You can comply with the court ordered visitation schedule or work out your co-parenting issues.

Legally? There is probably nothing you can do about it. You can always try and make nice with him, and hope he will relent before the trip occurs, but other than that - unless there is some legal agreement that will hold him to his pledge to allow this, there is really no way you can force him to permit it.

I suppose you can always seek to get it before a judge immediately (if possible) and ask that the judge okay it based upon his text message agreement, but I wouldn't count on it.

You can also go on the trip and deal with the consequences when you get back; for that approach, though, I suggest talking to a custody lawyer before you act.
