Default Former Employer Reporting Me to Credit Bureau

My question involves collection proceedings in the State of: Ohio

The debt collector told me to pay at least $1,000, I don't have that amount but do have $750, I have emailed them two times and left two voicemails but now they won't return my calls. What happens if they do report me to the credit bureau? Will I still have to pay or is that the end of it? The letter I received from the collection agency (no date listed on it) stated that i had 14 days to pay in full.

Eh? What sort of debt is this that it is to a former employer?
Why do you think they want more than you think you owe?
I'm skeptical that this sort of debt is the kind of thing that is reported to credit bureaus.
If they end up suing you, the judgement will adversely affect you.

The debt is for health insurance premiums that I was being charged while employed by them.

If a debt is reported to a CRA, it goes on your credit report and negatively affects your credit score.

If you pay a debt after it's reported to a CRA, the entry should be updated to reflect payment. The entry can potentially still harm your score.

A report to a CRA does not affect whether or not you owe the alleged debt.
