My question involves landlord-tenant law in the State of: Callifornia
I have been living with my boyfriend for 4 months, I pay no rent, there is no lease etc. He has asked me to make other arrangements. What are my rights?

Do you do something in exchange for rent?
Ultimately, ASKing you to make other arrangements is pretty meaningless. Whether a tenant or a guest, you're free to ignore a request. If push comes to shove, local police would likely tell him that he needs to treat you like a tenant even if you don't pay rent and give you a 30-day notice to leave and then file an eviction action if you don't. As a practical matter, given you indicate you're a guest, he's pretty much free to do as he likes and take his chances that you don't sue him in landlord-tenant court and pretend you were paying him $200 a month cash or in kind/exchange. Whether you'd be successful if you wanted to pretend you're a tenant depends on whether he gives you ample notice and what other steps he takes (changing locks, etc.).
However, the bottom line is, one way or another, you will end up moving out. You can do it the easy way and make other arrangements, or you can do it the hard way and force him to evict you through the courts, but the end result either way will be the same - you'll be living elsewhere.
