My question involves an eviction in the state of: Kansas

Recently I had an ongoing issue with a landlord as I had requested some repairs for electrical that was faulty and almost started a fire, plus not up to code for the year it is required to meet. Along with that I requested a couple other standard issues, front stair broke, rail was always loose, vent in bathroom never worked, and the back door was broken since I moved in.

Over a period of 2 months I asked verbally, then sent a certified letter, which his response was to call and yell at me. He threatened to increase my rent claiming I was on a month to month lease, which was untrue, as my lease was automatically renewing each year. In the letter I asked for a good faith attempt within 14 days, which never happened, and so after 30 days I had the city do an inspection, and when they contacted him, I immediately got a cure or quit notice for late rent even though I was in the grace period permitted in the lease. Still, nothing occurred, so after another 20 days, I contacted the city requesting a copy of the inspection and info about the status. They contacted the landlord and informed me that he said they would get to it after the beginning of the month as they are evicting me anyways. That was completely untrue as no legal process was involved. Anyways, he then showed up after the end of the business day with a termination of lease letter stating it was due to multiple late rent payments, which was untrue, as i was caught up and the other being non removal of debris from yard, which was their debris.

He also tried telling me the house is rented "as is" which I am certain KS has an implied warranty of habitability, also I was informed by Kansas Human Rights the 3 day cure or quit notices were not supposed to be done until I first received a 14 day notice, plus they stated a cure or quit is different from a pay or quit letter.

Needless to say, there was never an actual written walkthrough, nor did he show up for final inspection though I took photos and left the house in better shape than when I moved in. Does this sound like retaliation to anyone else?
