My question involves child support in the State of: TEXAS
I'm mid 20s living in Austin struggling with a 10 year old girl. I am working full time and have had to move into a smaller flat with a friend living in the same room as my daughter in the same bed.
I have been struggling to pay off debts and earn enough for the simplest things like food etc.. for over 6 years.
I'm owed roughly $30.000 if not more in child support from the child's father who refuses to get any kind of legit job, has no stability, doesn't turn up to court dates, has 9 felony's and 10 misdemeanors.
In the past he has broke into an apartment I used to live at to steal from me, he has broke into my mothers place when he found out they where away to steal.
Generally he is a low life and has no intention of paying the money back.
I cant get an address from him because most of the time I dont think he has a permanent address.
I went to court early this year around feb/march and he actually showed up and when the judge said he was going to go to jail he ran out the court room, and 3 weeks later I got a call from the atourney generals office and THE COURT had put the wrong case number on the document and said we had to start again from scratch.
Now he knows he will most likely end up in jail I cant find him, and the courts wont do anything to help.
Could someone please help me with information of what I can do, and if i'm entitled to any kind of financial help from the state.
Basically any help at all that can help me financially.
Thanks in advance.
