My question involves a child custody case from the State of: WA
THERE ARE NO COURT ORDERS OR PARENTING PLAN. Child lives only with me and our family i am his mother, father hasnt had contact or visits over 7 months.
The father often sends text messages with no relation to our son, does not ask how he is doing, does not ask for visits does not ask to speak with him. Alot of it is random conversation, once he has asked how i am ( i just lost my mother 6 wks ago) MOst of it is small talk and quite frankly im tired of it. He refuses to actually pick up the phone and talk or ask to speak to his son and i dont want to talk to him, we are not friends and havent been in over 7 yrs and these random conversations almost alway end up in some argument not even about our son! The only reason i have continued on with these conversations or even responded is because i dont know what i am required to do. If EVER he calls to speak to his son, or asks how he is i will respond but i am really tired of the texting. he has the ability to talk. I would like to eliminate texting him all together. SInce there is no court papers, no visits, no parenting plan what do i HAVE to do? I have considered giving him our land line and completely blocking him from my cell but in case of us ever going to court i dont want this held against me. PLease legal advice, i dont need parenting advice or lectures on how i am wrong to not want to talk to him, our son is 8 and doesnt have a phone nor knows how to text, and cannot even understand text speak, this is between the father and i, not a parenting flaw
