Three letters: DNA.
ANd a 17-year old NOT knowing who fathered her child? Please. Unless she's the town tramp, it's not going to be rocket science. And, all indications here are that she has been in a committed relationship with one guy for some time - that won't be hard to figure out.
Ah, so baby daddy might not be able to see his child for nearly 4 years ... good idea. And you're suggesting she keep silent and thus, potentially, be part of the criminal conspiracy to conceal him from identification and prosecution. Silent is one thing, but taking action to conceal him can be criminal - a felony. And if the state has to pay one penny towards the care or maintenance of that child, or pays for the birth of the child, you can bet that they will consider charging her with a crime.I would suggest you find the statute of limitations on stat. rape and then let that clock start ticking on your 18th bday. I would suggest he not sign the birth certificate which is no huge deal these days or even 3 decades ago. I wouldn't be around him too much in front of people who don't agree with the relationship or just don't like one of you because they might bug a detective enough to get him looking your way. Just create a private relationship between your baby and his father. If anyone asks hes baby sitting, dont address their links, dont give any information that dates you, the child, the father, make math next to impossible.
Trust me, this is not going to be rocket science. Human relationships do not happen in a vacuum and he will be identified. When he is, DNA will prove paternity and thus the intercourse. The only question is whether the DA in that jurisdiction will make an issue out of it.
