My question involves landlord-tenant law in the State of: Louisiana
I vacated and turned in the keys for a leased rental property in Slidell, La on Tuesday January 3, 2012 due to the closed office for new year holiday with proper 30 day notice given, my rent was paid in full and on time, apartment was left cleaned and in rentable condition, all keys returned and final pictures taken.
In the lease I signed, it says that the landlord has the right to hold the deposit for 30 days. The lease ended on December 31, 2011.
However, Landlord has not contacted me nor sent me any information regarding my prior lease. I called him today and he states that I am too late to receive any information on the status of my tenancy. Also, he states that I stayed over the lease therefore he is keeping my deposit for that reason. As a former tenant what rights do I have?
