It reminds me of a little boy taunting another kid, then running to the principal "Jimmy followed me! Make him stop! Wah!".

You have a child. So act like an adult. If you see this guy in the mall or someplace, just turn and walk the other way.

As I said before the software piracy remark was a bad idea on my part. I really did not expect him to get so fired up in anger to chase us in the mall. I expected a hard email reply from him but not one with so much profanity and threats of physical violence. In my opinion this person has a short fuse and some anger issues. I had only met one other person in life who was extremely old. Almost anything you said to him would fire him up instantly to much profanity and open violent threats.

Yep, I agree to avoid this person at all times is good advice. He could be dangerous to me physically especially since he is about 100 pounds heavier and about 6 inches taller than me.

I did let my son read the email reply. He had to know about this person. My son said his claim about him laughing was not true. My son also said he did not hear me say anything to him. Maybe because it was very noisy. At the time we were there in the early evening. There were a lot of teenagers in the mall and it was very noisy. I guess this guy could have been mistaken or maybe some false statements. who knows.

Lots of advice and comments so far. Thanks to anybody who posted. I would still appreciate opinions if anybody posting here would give their opinions. Would his email reply be considered a threatening email or just a ranting email.

Ewwwww.....I found some slang terms based on corn dog that he may have been referring to. Google "corn dog slang" at your own risk.

At this point, you both are in the same mall. You can pass by each other without saying anything or acting threatening (AKA...be adults). If it is a random occurrence....the police aren't gonna do anything. Same town, same mall..you both have the right to be there. Now if he's there everytime you are (and vise versa)...ok, now we have an issue called harassment, possible stalking. SUGGESTION: If you're at the mall and he is...you can leave, or go to a store at the opposite side of the mall.

Next:
I don't see where he really threatens you. I see how if you pull a knife on him again, he will take action, but not arming himself with his own knife. He's not threatening to come to your house and kick your ass, he is not threatening to stalk your every move.

Listen: You have a kid to think of. Be an adult, lead by example. I have a few people in this world I hate with a passion...if we were to be in the same store, I would just walk by and ignore them. That simple.

I think I understand where you are going with your words. You seem to be trying to show that you that could not see any threat. The fact is we gave him every opportunity to quit tailing us. Every time we changed direction he changed direction. Every time we increased speed he increased speed. This happened several times. He was following our every move in sync. I felt threatened and my son also believed the guy was a threat to us. He was about 100 pounds heavier and 6 inches taller than me giving him an advantage in strength and speed. After multiple attempts to avoid his advance I pulled my foldable knife out of the sheath. At that point revealing it was proof that it was not concealed but of course it was visible in the sheath. He stopped and went back to his original direction. The knife went back in my sheath and we continued into the store away from him. I did not need to use the knife for self defense in this case. Simply put I believed the man was a threat to me and my son. My action convinced him to stop advancing in our direction. Problem solved. Common law.

I have read several of the state self defense laws and the federal law. None say I can only swing a club to defend against another swinging club. None say I can only block with a two foot stick if they block with a two foot stick. The state and federal laws I have read stated as long as I felt threatened or I feel another individual is threatened are the only requirements. If you know of some laws that are more specific with details by all means please post the links. I enjoy reading laws. As far as Wyoming knife laws I do believe that there are no knife laws in Wyoming that limit the blade size or how you carry it. In fact I believe you can carry full length samurai sword across your back with twine, a huge bowie knife juggling in your hands, a long hunting knife on your waste, and in my case a folded knife in a sheath on my belt. Many types of knifes like mine are sold in that mall. There may be some concealed weapon laws in Wyoming.

He replied to your email. It was not a threat at all and does not appear to fit the definition of any criminal act in WY or elsewhere. He was saying he wanted you to leave him alone, too. This sounds like it is all said and done unless you keep stirring the pot. Let it go, it's done.
