Default Re: Getting a New Job With an Expired Green Card

At the risk of being the odd one out here, may I just clarify something?

An expired green-card is just that. The card (the "proof") has expired - but the holder's residency has not expired. He is still in status, unless the residency is conditional (and he's said nothing to indicate that's the case).

Now granted I agree with most of everything else that's been said, but sometimes this point gets lost in everything else.

I do realize that. After all, my own father has had a green card for 45 years.

I do, however, have a problem with someone who knowingly and deliberately violates the law simply because it would not be convenient for him to follow it. I don't care if he's a citizen, a permanent resident or something else; inconvenience is not a valid reason to break the law.

I would use the word 'expensive' or 'over-priced' rather than inconvenient. Actually it is convenient - you can renew online fairly quickly.

If you don't understand why I'm incensed at the above, you won't get this either, but what you just said? That makes it worse.
