Question Can I Enter on Visa Waiver Despite Multiple Criminal Convictions

    Hello everyone,

I am a Canadian wanting to travel to the USA for pleasure with my common-law wife and some friends.

Last year I was convicted of three (3) criminal offenses.

    1. Domestic Assault
    2. Careless Storage of a Firearm
    3. Uttering Threats

This was my first offense and I was simply given 1 year probation. My probation completed this past May.

Any insight anyone can give me would be greatly appreciated.

I come from a good family, my common-law wife is a martial lawyer, I went through counseling etc.

so you are not actually married for any legal purpose, correct?

It appears you will have to apply for permission to enter the US. This site deals with it:

With all that DV, her being a martial [SIC] lawyer is probably a good idea.

Inadmissibiliity with these particular charges is a gray area. Of course unlike you own lousy country, the US will allow you to apply for a waiver of inadmisssibilty in advance.

Correct, we are together in a legitimate relationship.

Do you think they will likely decline my request with my above mentioned convictions?

I've heard of people being declined for much less and not being declined for worse. All you can do is apply and see where it gets you/
