If You Are Caught for MIP Will You Lose Your Out-of-State License

My question involves criminal law for the state of: Iowa and Illinois. My brother is going to U of Iowa and he's been hearing conflicting information on the minor in possession law. We had a friend who got a possession ticket for having alcohol in the dorm room in Michigan and ended up losing her license in Illinois. If he was to get a possession ticket in Iowa for being at a party or being found in possession of alcohol in his dorm room what charges does he face in both Illinois and Iowa?

Each state has its own law.

In many states....minor in possession = loss of drivers license for a year. It can also result in things like court costs, fines, community service, and/or drug and alcohol education class.

Community Service is not free. He would have to pay for each hour. Someone has to make sure he is there ontime and working his ass off.

Drug/Alc Program....he can expect $300-500.

Minor in Possesion...he can expect a Misdemeanor criminal record. Court costs/fines.

A minor in possession of alcoholic beverages in a dorm room....he needs to read his agreement, but it likely means he will be kicked out of the dorm....
