My question involves unemployment benefits for the state of: Michigan
I worked for one employer during the last five completed quarters and am currently working in this quarter also with the one employer. On my last completed quarter (jul-sep 2012) I worked for a SECOND employer also and got laid off in the same quarter (just summer work, I only worked jul-sep 2012 but I was working both jobs at the same time). Now if I get laid off by my first employer THIS quarter (November 2012), will I get benefits from just ONE or both employers?
I made 4,000 in each on the last completed quarters for my main job - which would give me an approx benefit amount of (4,000 X .04 =$160.00)
BUT during my summer job I made 5,000 in my last completed quarter - would they combine my pays from both employers? (4,000+5,000 x .04=$360.00)?
I heard they do not also use your last completed quarter to calculate your benefit amount so if I am smart about it, should I wait untill January 1st to apply for unemplyment benefits if I can hold out on this job that long? This was I will get the 360 dollars a week? Or will they use the last quarter from my summer job if I just file now?
Please let me know what you think,
Thanks
David
