My counselor is mentioning that I was in a car accident and as a result have changed career fields.

Myself...I do mention that I have a hearing impairment and will need to attach a small device to a telephone so I can hear better (this is not result of the accident). If I find a job requires a lot of lifting beyond my limit, I don't even bother.

I've found a common question is why I am changing career fields. So I decided to go with:
(a) After taking time from the workforce to take care of an elderly relative, I realized I am happier working with the public, than being in a cubicle with no human contact.
(b) I was involved in a car accident, and can't do things I used to, such as lifting 50+ lb boxes all day. My natural personality and skills have led me to believe the hospitality industry is a great fit for me.

But again, 3 times now, it goes beyond "Can I do the job, with or without reasonable accommodation?". It is "Describe the accident, what happened, etc". Simple thing. I was doing a pre-employment drug screening. I could not produce enough urine. So they had me drink a lot of water. Told me my time limit was up and I needed a new form. I passed out behind the wheel while enroute, took out 2 road signs and a small tree....

I know people get curious....shoot, while I was wearing a backbrace for 4 months, I had so many complete strangers approach me in the grocery stores to ask what happened. I can't believe I have to go into it for job interviews, too.
