Default 1000 Foot Rule for Registered Sex Offenders

My question involves criminal law for the state of: Michigan

In Michigan, sex offenders cannot live within or work within 1000 feet of a school. These both have exceptions, which I also have questions about.

For one, how is the 1000 feet measured? Is it by the shortest distance a person can travel by foot/car? Or as the crow flies? Citation?

Additionally, the law states an offender may work in a school zone IF it is to be intermittent or sporadic. Can anyone define this a bit more specifically? The law does NOT specifically state an offender cannot OWN a business in a school zone, either, and owning a business does not necessarily imply self-employment. Opinions? Again, Citations?

I don't have any citations but I recall a similar question recently. If I recall correctly, it is a straight line measurement. I believe it was from the school building (as opposed to the school property. why, I don't know. I believe it should be.) but cannot recall if it was to the person's house or their property line.

    the second part:

intermittent or sporadic are terms easily looked up for definitions. They are both ambiguous terms so no, I cannot define it any more specifically.

The law does NOT specifically state an offender cannot OWN a business in a school zone, either, and owning a business does not necessarily imply self-employment.
I doubt it is a problem to own a business within the 1000 foot zone but it would be a problem if the owner were to attend to business there any more than intermittently or sporadically.

I don't believe it would be worth the criminal charge incurred to discover the specific interpretation. !000 feet is not hard to stay out of.
