My question involves a traffic ticket from the state of: California
Hi, I'm desperately hoping to receive some advice. I recently move to California from Canada and am not familiar with the process for addressing traffic violations....
I received a Notice of Traffic Violation (21453-C) in the mail in late September based on a photograph taken on September 19,2012 at the intersection of Leucadia and El Camino Real. The car is registered in my husband's name but I am the principal driver. When I received the notice (originally in my husbands name as the registered owner) I responded with the correct information on the back of the notice verifying that I was the driver. Through reading some threads, this probably wasn't the best move but I thought i was being honest. In any event, I received the official Notice of Traffic Violation which was issued on Oct 12,2012. Following that, I received the Bail notice this past Saturday, Oct 27,2012 with a bail amount set at $490.00. YIKES. I have never had a traffic ticket of any type in my 28 years of driving so needless to say, I was completely shocked by amount!
I am due to pay or appear in Court on/by Nov 26, 2012. My question is, is there any way to contest this ticket especially as it is a photograph/video ticket? Have all correct steps been followed for the issuing of this ticket? Is there a technicality being that I am not the registered owner of the car even though it has been verified that I am the driver? Would there be any value whatsoever in getting a history of my driving record seeing that I have never had a ticket ever in 29 years of driving?
Any information/advise you could provide would be greatly appreciated!
Many thanks,
N.W
