My question involves unemployment benefits for the state of: Michigan
I was fired about six weeks ago from my job as an ISR at a cell phone store. I have filed and been approved for unemployment benefits because my firing was for being tardy once. Shortly I will start collecting. This prior job was an hourly W-2 type Job. I have found an all commission sales position as a health insurance agent. This is not an hourly job with a W-2, it is all commission with 1099. My compensation is made through 'Advances', so technically when I am paid I receive a loan from the company. The idea is the policy pays a monthly amount in an account that pays the commission back. Every month the customer pays their bill a portion of that loan is paid back. I am wondering how the state of Michigan will treat this? Will they look at this as income? Could I use unemployment to get me back on my feet with a different job and help use this to supplement my income? Has anyone been in this situation, or what additional details do I need to provide?
Regards
