My question involves criminal law for the state of: Ohio
There are a few different catagories this could fall under, but I'll start hear. Last year my ex-husband was unemployed from January - August, and coincidentily my parents had their house broken into in July and all of my mother's jewelry was taken, his mother discovered in July that a lot of her jewelry was missing, and during Christmas my sister's wedding ring was stolen. My parents and sister did file police reports and when it's all said and done, over $10,000 worth of jewelry was stolen from the two of them alone. My sister's ring being stolen was a wakeup call to all of us that this could possibly be the work of my then husband. The detective was called and was given my ex's name to start an investigation. He found that between the months of Feb - Aug he had been to two different pawn/gold shops 16 times. Very limited descriptions were given in the shops' records and everything that was sold to them was melted down with a few weeks. I immediately told him I was leaving, but didn't mention the theft. We were having many other issues with him smoking pot and lying about it, using Rx drugs that were not his, amoung other things, it was a long time coming. My attorney advised me not to mention the theft at this point since I didn't tell him that is why I was leaving with our daughter, because he didn't want his attorney to try and say we were extorting him in order to get the outcome we wanted in the divorce/custody battle. Plus, I was terrified (for whatever reason lol) to take my daughter's father out of her life because I knew she still wanted to see him. Everything is final now, he agreed to me having fully custody. So much is being left out but it's really not rellevent on this forum, sorry for the long rant.
My question is, with evidence we have, is it enough to convict him or will it blow up in my face and make me look like a fool for trying? I only ask because even though everything is final, I continue to have issues with my ex being a hassle and I am running into the problem of my daughter not wanting to go over there every other weekend.
Thanks for your help!
