My question involves collection proceedings in the State of: Calif. I have 4 credit cards and cannot continue paying on all of them. Can you default on one, to pay off the others. I don't care about my credit score....not getting a new car or home.... They can sue me, I don't care, I don't care if collectors call me..... I'm 59 retired, haven't worked in 6 years, my only income is an IRA and I'm slowly draining it. If I default on one, I have a better chance of paying off the others and perhaps keeping them. They cannot increase my interest rates, the CARD act stopped "universal defaults". Would this be considered fraud against the card company you're defaulting on?
