Even 10 hours a week is better than nothing, and would not have affected your UI benefits much, if at all. Quitting was a foolish, foolish move EVEN IF it ends up that you keep your UI benefits.
    Perhaps because it wasn't possible to pay rent and utilities on 10 hours a week and a relative in another state offered the OP a place to live while looking for a job in the other state?...as indicated in the first post.

    Or perhaps the poster should have investigated all the options, such as collecting UI while still working the 10 hours a week (yes, that's entirely possible) before making the decision to quit.

    You might have trouble, but you can minimize the grief.

    You're under no duty to volunteer that you knew you were going to be laid off from your primary job. However, depending on how things went when you asked for more hours at the secondary job be prepared that you might be asked "Did you know you were going to be laid off"?

    From that court case, housing is a valid reason to do what you did. You left CA after you lost your job because you had access to housing with a relative.
