My question involves unemployment benefits for the state of: California
In July of 2012 I had two jobs, a full time primary job and a secondary part time job working 10 hours a week.
I found out in July that my full time job was ending on August 31st and I would be laid off.
I looked for a job in the local area and I could not find additional full time work and a relative offered to let me move in with them out of state and look there.
On July 23rd I asked my part time job if they could provide more hours and they were not able to, so I gave them two weeks notice and my last day was August 6.
After my last day of work at my Primary Full time job on August 31st, I applied online for CA EDD for unemployment - I filled out the necessary information that included my primary job history and any other jobs I had during an 18 month period, the form did not include a question of why I left my secondary job.
I was awarded benefits and began to receive payments in September 2012.
Yesterday, I received a letter in the mail from the EDD listed as a request for separation- the explanation on the letter said that they needed to know the reason why I stopped working for one of my former employers and information with instructions on explaining why and if I had quit my secondary job.
My question is, will I be disqualified from receiving unemployment benefits because I quit my secondary part time job several weeks prior to submitting a claim for my primary full time job that laid me off. Help, this is very distressing and I am afraid to be left without unemployment funds.
