Question Can you emancipate a 21-year-old student

My step son's mother has requested to emancipate him now that he is 21 so she can quit paying support (that's all she does). He's a junior at Purdue & she thinks he should have to live at home for her to pay support. How would this effect his financial aid status? Although she's supposed to pay 1/3 of college we've never asked her. That part in the agreement was "for 5 years or 130 hours" so I believe she will have to continue with that. Do we need to get an attorney to fight it or are we ok representing ourselves? Help!

What does the child support order say? What state issued the order?
