My question involves criminal law for the state of: Florida
I was sentenced 15 years probation for Grand Theft 1st Degree. I worked for a very known health insurance company and I did fraud checks for around $280,000.00. Which that money did not all go to me, I would make them under other peoples names and have them cash the checks and the monies would be divided. I have already served 7 years and I am paying restitution. I was arrested a few months after my husband passed away in a car accident & I was told if i did not accept the plea I would get 25 years in prison. I was afraid of leaving my 3 children who were under age alone after loosing their father & then me being incarcerated so I accepted the plea. My lawyer never tried to fight to give me a better offer. From the beginning he always said I should take the 15 years. I have been clean, never violated my probation & have always gone to see my probation officer every month. From everything happening to me all at once I was disabled because of my nerves, depression and being affraid of violating my probation even if its due to traffic infractions. I would like to know how can I ask the governor for a pardon so I can have my probation terminated. I would really appreciate the help.
