Hello,
I am new to this forum so thanks for taking the time to look at this post. I created an illustration about 5 years ago for a local publication and never signed over any rights. They have been printing this character annually for the 5 years and re-creating it in different forms (T-Shirts, Sculptures, 3d Computer Models, etc.) All have been great for exposure, but the usage wasn't disclosed when this was originally created and the compensation surely doesn't match the amount of times this character has been reproduced. Recently the character was used in an illustration that I did not create and is a poor representation of my skills. My question is "Is it worth my time and money to hire a lawyer to negotiate rights to this character? Or should I just let this one slide?" Once again, thanks for your time.
