My question involves labor and employment law for the state of: Colorado
I worked for a school system as a cook for nearly 5 years I was harassed for a few of those years continuously by my immediate supervisor, her supervisor, and a recent hire on.I quit because the harassment was unbearable after I found a new job, unfortunately that employer fired me 5 days after employment (unemployment found me not at fault) and I did file a complaint with unemployment about the job I quit(the school) back in March of this year.Unemployment said that management at the school treated me fine, I appealed, and eventually had a hearing (in August) where I voiced my concerns.I received a judgment in the schools favor because they said I quit because of an employee (the recent hire) and not management,I appealed that.It was reviewed by a panal and I was refused once again.
At this hearing I not only brought up the employee but the things management did to me as well, the officer let me speak about management without any interruption, the officer even asked questions about management. But in the end they only used the employee as the source even though since March they knew I quit mainly because of management.
I don't know what I can do to fight this I was treated unfairly I feel by unemployment and of course my the school I worked for, they are wrong my employer was hostile and I don't want them to get away with this! I am by no means a professional when it comes to filing for unemployment and feel because of that maybe I was taken advantage of.
I did speak with a paralegal about the conditions I was in at the school and she said I may have had grounds to file a complaint with the EEOC
Please help,I make 8 bucks an hour not full time and need to know what if anything I can do,these people do not deserve to be in the positions they are in,I feel I was taken advantage of by the school and unemployment.
