Default Re: Divorcing and refinance - Ex refuses to sign quit claim deed

I have been divorced since 3/06.The home was awarded to me, and my ex-husband has failed to do sign the quit claim deed. For several months , I have attempted to refinance the home and he has always agreed to sign the deed over. When it is time for closoing the deal, he never show up. Can I file a contempt of court order for cause and have the decree modified? The judge only gave him 30 days to have this done, and within 60 days I am to give him 1/2 of the net equity.

From what you have written, you can take him back to court and attempt to compel him to sign. Depending upon your state, if he continues to defy the court's orders, you may be able to get a court order which you can file instead of his signature.
