Hi,
After graduation from an ivy league university, I fell out of status due to a confusion about my official graduation date: Although I had finished classes by march 2010 (and my i20 expired end of march), I had incompletes, and graduated only by december 2010. However, I fell out of status, because I assumed that my i20 would magically renew itself because I hadn't graduated, and when I received my grades to replace the incompletes, I emailed the international office who informed me that I should leave. I left the country immediately- this was first week of september, 2010. My visa expiration date was 2011.

I worked in my home country for 2 years at a reputable journalistic organization and now have applied for a masters. I got through to a tier one university. I have received a new I20. I was filling out my DS-160 and they asked me a question: Have you ever been unlawfully present, overstayed the amount of time granted by an immigration official or otherwise violated the terms of a U.S. visa?

What should I answer. Also what should I say/do I need anything else to get a visa again to study?
