My question involves collection proceedings in the State of: IL
Hello,
I have a judgment from a credit card and received papers from the court house after they won, it was a Wage Deduction Notice. It has a court date on it for next month and if I would like a hearing I would need to contact the court. I know it's my debt and was planning on going to court on that date to see what I will have to pay, unless I file for BK ahead of time
Today I looked at my bank account and it was on hold and the bank said I have a court ordered levy on my accounts. And on top of that they put a hold on double the amount of the levy.
The questions I have..
1. Is there anything I can do to remove the levy from my account? I was planning on setting up a payment when I had court next month so this caught me by surprise.
2. I called the lawyer hired by the creditor and they were no help, they said they will hold the levy until the court date next month. Wondering if that is true or not?
3. Has anyone had any success when they have a levy on their account being able to have it removed and make payment on the judgment?
I thank you in advance for any help..
