My question involves criminal law for the state of: California
I was having a dispute with my old employer over money. He alleges that I stole thousands of dollars from him by altering my paycheck for two years. The police in California contacted me after I had already moved to the east coast. I heard nothing more from them after I told him my side of the story, but I was still worried about the charge. So I looked online at the court and I see that I have 2 charges against me in criminal court. I cannot find out anything else about the case except it is 2 grand theft charges. When I moved here, I turned in my California DL and got one here. I am terribly afraid that the police are just going to show up at my door one day. I cannot afford to go to California to fight these charges. When I wasn't working, it took all the money I had just to get here and I have no way of going back to face this. I don't know what to do at this point. Will California send someone to my door to get me? Or am I just going to have to face it when and if I get pulled over?
