    Default Removing Criminal Protective Order

My question involves criminal law for the state of: California

When I was 16, I began a relationship with my teacher that was 10 years older. Long-story-short. People found out, he went to jail for a year and is now on probation, with a criminal protective order against me. It's been about 18 months since he's been released and about 3 years since I've talked to him. I'm almost 20 now and would love to be able to talk to him and at least be friends with him and maybe actually have the opportunity to legally date and see if those feelings still exist. Is there anything I can do to have that protective order removed? Thank you again for your advice.

If the court ordered this as part of a criminal case, you have no standing to drop anything.

If the protective order was for three years, is the time now up? Has it been reinstated, or dismissed? If not, how much time is left on it?

He's free to raise the issue with his probation officer... the problem being, how would he know that you want the contact?

For that matter, how do you know that he wants the contact?

I don't know...I don't have those answers. :/ I'm just hoping. And... wondering what, if anything, I can do on my end?
