Default How Does Marriage Affect Social Security Benefits for Disabled Child

I know a divorced mother receiving a monthly social security check because her young child has autism.

If this woman remarries, can her monthly SS check be reduced or eliminated due to the income of her new husband?

Default Re: How Does Marriage Affect Social Security Benefits for Disabled Child

The child is receiving Supplemental Security Income (SSI), not Social Security benefits. It is a program for low income elderly and disabled adults and disabled children. And absolutely, the mother's new husband's income or assets can reduce or eliminate the public assistance SSI benefit.
