A few months ago my wife and I contacted our LL (August 2006) to ask if he could let us out of a 3 year lease in Denver early, by about 20 months. This was all through email. We had nearly 30 emails going back and fourth discussing painting etc. He promised us a lease amendment. But for some reason I did not open the email that he sent 2 weeks prior to our last day (which contained the amendment). It was that hectic. Anyhow, we moved out, he stopped by while we were in the process leaving, left us a note to tell us to leave keys etc. He had informed us duirng our emails that he would return our deposit providing we painted the apartment and agreed to be out by Sept 1st 2006. Everything was going well. Then I got an email mid Sept 2006. saying he never received the amendment and that his attorney would contact us CO state law blah blah blah. I rushed to check my email and found the amendment. We satisfied all his requirements etc but the interesting thing was that there was no date, no address, or clause that said when we had to sign by. He referred to our 3 year lease as ending in August of 2006???? It was a very poorly written document. It only asked us to sign it and return it. So can I just sign it now and return it and be OK?
