My question involves criminal law for the state of: Indiana
Recently, I had a male grab my chest and grabbed my arms and tried to force me to kiss him (while he was working). I called the police, they took my statement. He does not have a record yet, but given the situation (he asked if I had any weapons, where they were located etc). They feared for my life and asked me if I could stay some where for a few days. I did that, then I came back to my apartment a week after the incident, "someone" came to my home and tried to beat down the door. We are guessing he lost his job because of my calling the police, but since I hid in the closet and called the police instead of looking out the peep hole while it was being done, they can't prove it was him. Before that, the detective told me it's up to the prosecutor on what he gets charged with. Given my statement, he said it could be battery, criminal confinement, and possibly sexual battery. If he is charged with any, how much time can he get, or will they just give him probation and community service? (I realize each state and county is different-this is in Indianapolis.) Also, will they notify me if they charge him, or if they arrest him or what?
