My question involves criminal law for the state of: Michigan .
I am 20 years old and I got caught shoplifting at Macy's . It was a stupid mistake. The total for the items I stole was $109.99 . I was cooperative so I did not get arrested . I am banned from the mall I stole from and Macy's . I have to pay $200 to Macy's and appear at a court date in 2 weeks . I've never had anything on my criminal record. This is the first time I've gotten in big trouble with the law besides having tickets. I do have a suspended license but it doesn't show up on my criminal background check . I'm afraid what's going to happen in court. I'm attending a university as a medical student and I know this will go on my record . I was really stupid and should've thought before I did it but I can't change back time .. I know you can get it taken off ur record but it will costs a lot of money. What should I expect in court ? And what would I have to go through to get it taken off my record .
