My question involves labor and employment law for the state of: California
Here is a breif history of my case.
I am a female and belong to a protected class.
All of a sudden after 20 years I began being treated at work very differently than the white employees and all of a sudden and my boss started to lie about me, falsely accuse me, and bully me. I documented everyting and have proof to disprove all of thier lies. I developed stress and medical issues along with nightmares.
No one else in the dept was being treated the way I was. Even HR was yelling at me.
I accused them of discrimination. HR did nothing. I filed an EEOC complaint with the state.-thought this was supposed to protect me from losing my job-
after a year of horrendous treatment HR suddenly told me that they conlcuded there was no discrimination and the next day I was laid off due to no more work...(really)
I contacted EEOC they gave me the right to sue. I have a court date scheduled for next year. EEOC had not investigated anything at this point.
The defense atty has scheduled a mediator? What is this and who hired him? How do I know he will be neutral?
My atty is not very proactive.
I lost wages for a year, had to buy my own health insurance and have atty fees piling up. It took me a year to get a job and it pays me less than what I was making. I documented everything.
What should I do at the mediation?
Can I recover my lost wages? What about pain and suffering and if so how much....
I am not asking for a million dollars but I do not want to settle for 10k...an offer that was thrown at me not to long ago...
any advice?
Pplease help and thank you....
