Default Shifting Job from Mechanical to I.T. on a H1b Visa

    Helo,
I hold a masters degree in Mechanical Engineering. After my graduation in year 2010, I worked with Company A as a design engineer (mechanical engineering - related to my master's) till date. I worked on OPT from august 2010 to Sep 2012 .Recently I was told that I will be layed off from my job because of budget reasons, and unfortunately my H1-B started from OCt 1st 2012 will be terminated from OCT 11th resulting in out of status. Now I decided to move to IT consultant and even applied for H1 transfer. Will I be rejected for H1 stamping because of shifting the job from one field to other? What are the things I need to take care to avoid issues while H1 stamping?

How do you propose to demonstrate to an employer or the USCIS that you are qualified as an IT consultant? MEs are in demand; find a job in your field and stop trying to scam the system by fraudulently claiming to be an IT professional.
