Default Errors in a Bank Rewards System

My question involves business law in the state of: California.

I have 2 reward accounts with a bank institution (1 for credit card and 1 for checking account). I have a few hundred dollars in each reward account. To get a $25 gift card to Wal-Mart through my credit card, it takes 2,500 points. However, when I log into my checking account, in order to get a $25 gift card to Wal-Mart, it takes 3,500 points. And the same consistency is throughout all the offers. Basically, it takes more reward points through the checking account verses the credit card, but the exact same company, exact same reward system, and the exact same rules and policy. Something wrong about that! Is this worth pursuing a class action lawsuit over?

Lawsuit over what? 2 different programs, with 2 different forms of profitability and no legal obligation to do either.

You believe that the two accounts have identical rewards programs, but you're probably wrong. Ask the bank for a copy of the rewards program for each account. If the information you receive suggests that the wrong point totals are being described, ask customer service to explain the issue.

There's no reason that the same company has to offer the same rewards across all accounts held by a given person NOR do they have to offer the same program to all customers.

One thing to add to that though, when I signed up with my checking account, they told me upon completion of their requirements, I would be rewarded with 40,000 points, "enough to get $400 in gift cards". However, since there $25 gift card starts at 3,500 points, this statement is now false! Yes, I still have the advertisement that speaks this offer.

Actually, I have been already awarded the points! I received 40,000 points! The offer I received in my e-mail clearly states, open up a CitiGold account and fulfill the requirements (which I have) and get 40,000 points...enough to get $400 in gift cards.

Totally aside from this, I called customer support and transferred all my points from my checking account, into my credit card account and now I can get gift cards at the correct amount. BUT, I still think Citibank is doing something dishonest!

I suggest you take the flyer to your local bank for clarification.
