My question involves landlord-tenant law in the State of: California
I have to move for work and need to break my lease. My lease has a fee to break the lease or I can find someone to rent the unit and not be responsible for that fee. Upon moving in, I was shown a unit that had nice cabinets and carpet; however, this unit has old deteriorating cabinets and an old dirty carpet.
Can I be held responsible for the break lease fee when the reason the apartment will not rent is due to poor quality of the carpet and cabinets? Their rental website also shows the nice cabinets and carpet.
I would greatly appreciate any help on this subject. Thank you!
