My question involves criminal law for the state of: Chicago, Illinois.
I was arrested recently at a liquor store for trying to steal a case of beer. I walked in the store and grabbed a case of beer. I proceeded to walk out the front door as fast as possible. My dumbass(excuse my language) Attempt's to go through the wrong door. As I see the owners come up to me, I give up and say "you caught me". As i plead for them to let me go they start to punch me and hit me on the head. Its was about 3 older men. Im 18. As there trying to detain me, while punching me and hitting me all over. I resist only because of the brutality they were doing to me. Eventually they force me to the ground still punching me and hitting my head. One man puts a club to my head and says if i move he'll hit me. So he has me on my stomach with a club to my head and his foot on my back until the police arrive. Do I have any legal rights against this? Also I'm being charged with retail theft>$150. What can i do to help my charges on not be convicted. I feel as the beating they gave me was enough as I didn't even walk out the store. I'm looking to enter the military and do not want this to disqualify me or any future jobs(studying to be csi) Any legal help or advice for court? Thanks in advance
