My question involves criminal law for the state of: Virginia
My cousin has 2 failure to appear charges stemming from a shoplifting and prositution charge in 2010 in R-city.
On Thursday she had a court hearing in G-county for child support. She showed up high as a kite and caused a lot of comotion in the court room. She was placed into custody in G-county & will be held without bail until her hearing in 3 weeks. She has a pretty long sentence hanging over her head right now, about 3 years.
Will she have a court case in G-county were she was placed in custody or will she go back to R-city for the case? Are criminal court cases public record? Can I call either the county or city to found out exactly where she will be tried?
(My husband and I took custody of her 3 month boy on Thursday so we are trying to figure out where she is going for court and what her sentencing will be.)
Thanks!
