My question involves a traffic citation from the state of: Oklahoma
How can I find out whether OK requires a towing company sign posted before the police have a car towed?
I came back from class today to find my car towed. I do admit that my front wheel was in the beginning of a yellow-curb area that said "Tow-away zone". I had thought that a little overhang of my front wheel would be okay, since I used to park like this during the summer occasionally with no problems. Apparently the city's parking enforcement is cracking down now that the fall semester has started.
It is taking me hours to track down my car, however, since I have to wait till the officer who towed it goes off duty and hopefully turns in his paperwork. I looked all around the surrounding area but found no posted signs for what trucking company services that area. I called the police department but they said they have a whole list of towing companies they use and I have to wait for the officer to return to the department.
I recently moved from Seattle, and there I thought that a sign was always posted so one would know who to call (not that it's ever happened to me before!). Shouldn't there have been a sign posted? I understand the officer had a right to tow my car, although I wish they could have just given me a ticket.
