My question involves labor and employment law for the state of: Michigan. I was recently given an interim position which could have resulted in a promotion at my ex workplace recently. I was asked to give a letter of intent for the position after 30 days, which i did. The next day i was invited to my superiors office. She locked the door behind me and told me she wanted my resignation or she would terminate me. I have zero write ups, referrals, and had only received three promotions in the 18 months with the company. Is it legal to force someone to resign by threatening to fire them without reason if they do not resign? Basically using a black mark on future resumes as leverage to make someone resign, is that a form of harassment or am i just SOL for not making her fire me?
