Charged With Simple Assault

My question involves criminal law for the state of: pa
i was charged my the cops for simple assult but what im reading of it it should of been battery me and my husband got into a shut out out and i sracched his neck because he was in my face saying what ever then after i screched him he called the cops the cops wrote it as simply assult i read simple assult means to scare or have someone afraid of you with out touching them is this right in the state of pa or am i to look at jail time becuase we both got into it but i scracthed his neck

You are charged with Pa.C.S. Sec. 2701, right? "A person is guilty of assault if he... attempts to cause or intentionally, knowingly or recklessly causes bodily injury to another".
