Question Slip and Fall in Own House While Drunk

My question involves an injury that occurred in the state of: Massachusetts

Someone I know slipped and fell in their own house a few months ago. They are now quadriplegic and the medical bills have been astronomical for the individual. Their health insurance company recently said that they are refusing to pay a very large $60,000+ emergency room bill (possibly other bills too) because the person was drunk at the time of the accident. Does the person stand a chance of reversing this decision in court? If so, does anyone know a good lawyer in MA that specializes in these kinds of cases?

    Thanks in advance.

It sounds like your friend needs to be talking to a bankruptcy lawyer.

I've never heard of a denial of a health insurance claim based upon intoxication. What's the full story?
